Year-End Mailing Addendum

In my previous post I encouraged the preparation and mailing of a December “year-end” letter accompanying an 11-month giving statement.

An option for your mailing might be to include a page of suggested percentage increase in giving for 2012.

As in all areas of discipleship, growth often occurs in small steps along the spiritual journey.

As you pray about your generosity in 2012, prayerfully consider an increase in your giving of 5% or 10% or even 15%.

  • If you are giving $1,200 in this calendar year, a 5% annual increase in 2012 will be $5 more per month; a 10% increase will be $10 more per month; a 15% increase will be $15 more per month.
  • If you are giving $2,400 this year, a 5% annual increase in 2012 will be $10 more per month; a 10% increase will be $20 more per month; and a 15% increase will be $30 more per month.
  • If you are giving $3,600 this year, a 5% annual increase in 2012 will be $15 more per month; a 10% increase will be $30 more per month; and a 15% increase will be $45 more per month.
  • If you are giving $4,800 this year, a 5% annual increase in 2012 will be $20 more per month; a 10% increase will be $40 more per month; a 15% increase will be $60 more per month.
  • If you are giving $7,200 this year, a 5% annual increase in 2012 will be $30 more per month; a 10% increase will be $60 more per month; a 15% increase will be $90 more per month

Plan your giving to see how you can grow your generosity in 2012. If you have yet to begin the giving journey, then pick an amount that you can give regularly through the year and increase that amount as you have opportunity.

Starting on the path will help you grow in this important area of discipleship.

(Thanks to my friend Ruben Swint of The Columbia Partnership for this concept.)
